Size: 700 ml
"Named after former distillery president Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who always had very special supply of bourbon - his private reserve - handpicked and stored in legendary famous Warehouse H. The Blanton’s brand was launched in 1984 when Elmer T. Lee introduced the world to Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon a year before he retired. In doing so, he revolutionized the industry with the world’s first single barrel bourbon. Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel was the third version created, after the Original 93 proof and Gold 103 proof. This cask strength bourbon is beloved amongst connoisseurs." (Buffalo Trace Website)
Usually aged between 6 to 8 year, Blanton's is aged in Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace, which is the only metal-clad warehouse at the distillery (originally commissioned for construction by Albert B. Blanton, after whom the whiskey is named). The warehouse was built shortly after prohibition and being metal, transfers heat quicker than brick warehouses, allowing for more rapid ageing.
This Straight From the Barrel version gives a rare opportunity to sample a cask strength version of this very popular bourbon. With notes of honey, some walnut and candied pears Blanton’s straight bourbon is a premium American whiskey and one of the first labels to bottling single barrels.
This is a very unique bottling indeed.

Distillery: Port Ellen (Closed)
Age: 31 Y/O
ABV: 46%
Size: 700 ml
Port Ellen, the lost jewel in Islay's crown, ceased operations in 1983 under DCL (now Diageo) due to an oversupply of peated whisky for blending and perceived lack of interest as a single malt. Since then, it has attained legendary status. A very rare 12-year-old bottling, crafted for attendees of Queen Elizabeth II's visit in 1980, is believed to be the sole distillery bottling produced during its operational years. Diageo later introduced the first publicly available distillery bottlings as part of the Rare Malts Selection, followed by annual special releases.
This Port Ellen whisky, bottled by Kingsbury was distilled in 1982 and matured for 31 years in Single Butt #10259. Only 120 bottles were released.
Independent bottler Kingsbury Wine & Spirits Co. stands as one of Japan's most sought-after independent bottler and was founded in Aberdeen in 1989 and incorporated in 1992 by Katsuhiko Tanaka, president of Japanese importer Japan Import System Co. Ltd. Initially, it sourced most of its stock from Cadenheads (which had been acquired by J&A Mitchell in 1972). Consequently some of the earlier labels have the name Eaglesome (a high-end deli in Campbeltown acquired by J & A Mitchell & Co of Springbank distillery which evolved into one of the region's premier whisky merchants and oversaw the bottling for Kingsbury). Kingsbury has released highly collectible whiskies in the past.

Sasanokawa Shuzo Co, the oldest Sake brewer in the Tohoku region of Japan, obtained its license to produce whisky in 1946, after World War II. Their own distillation has also gone through turbulent times in sync with the Japanese whisky market's boom and bust cycles with bulk spirit imports replacing their own production through these times. They are also the distillery, which famously gave warehouse/storage space to Ichiro Akuto san for his Hanyu casks when they were about to be discarded by the new owners of Toa Shuzo. The first bottling of the Hanyu Card series in 2005 was also completed at Sasanokawa Shuzo itself.
Sasanokawa Shuzo established the Asaka Distillery in 2015, which started distillation in 2016 at the same site to produce Japanese Single Malt Whisky.
