Pōkeno Distillery is nestled in a warm, misty, humid valley surrounded by volcanic hills from which pure natural spring water is sourced. The Distillery uses some of the finest barley sourced from three family-owned farms in New Zealand's richly fertile South Island. This is what makes Pokeno Whisky so special in addition to a slow fermentation and distillation followed by a careful maturation process in first fill casks.

The result is an incredibly rich whisky with notes of citrus combining beautifully with the deep flavours from the PX cask. There is dark chocolate, dried fruit and black forest gateaus with a deep long finish.

This is in fact a double wood or a vatting of Single Malt Whiskies fully matured in first fill bourbon barrels and PX Sherry Hogsheads which have then been laid into a PX hogshead for a marrying period of several months to integrate the flavours.

THE HACHI SHOCHU, Sweet Potato (Imo), Mizunara Cask Matured is a collaboration with Ookubo Shuzo, a family owned farm distillery in Kagoshima and Hacchan who, somewhere along the way was also exposed to Whisky and the benefits of Cask Maturation. Made from Grilled Kogane Sengan and Anno Imo, a fluffy delicious variety of sweet potato with a lovely aroma and golden skin colour (Yaki Imo), Kuro (Black) Koji and single distilled under normal atmospheric pressure (making it a Honkaku Shochu) to retain the flavors of the underlying ingredient, this Batch 5 has been matured for about 2 year and 7 months in Mizunara Oak to retain the flavour of the origin spirit while adding an extra dimension of complexity to  the nose, palate and finish. 

Mizunara Oak is unique to Japan and is infamously difficult to work with, given their grain structure which also makes it more prone to leakages but imparts very unique flavours that are not usually found in traditional bourbon and sherry barrels.

Nose: Tropical fruits, incense, sandalwood, cedar and coconut with some subtle smoke balanced with sweet potato in the backgroud. 
Palate: Grated dry coconut, some banana and pineapple with a hint of oak spices, incense and sandalwood along with sweet potato flavours coming through at the back combined with subtle smoke.

'Tamashii' is Soul  or Spirit in Japanese. Bottled by Mizunara for its 4th anniversary, matured in refill bourbon barrel. Subtle peat smoke, charcoal ash & earthy notes combined with sweet vanilla, honey, citrus and fresh tropical fruits like banana. Vanilla sweetness combined with a saltiness that finally gives way to peppery notes and spices such as cloves and hints of dark chocolate. Nice long and complex finish. A limited release of 251 bottles worldwide with the label designed by a Japanese artist Kenro Shinchi. WhiskyFun rated 85 points (SGP 564) Extract "Mouth (neat): it’s really good, I’d almost call this ‘good thin peat’. Limoncello, oysters, ashes, riesling, mercurochrome ...With water: same, while the body got bigger rather than thinner once water’s been added. Comments: very good for sure, just rather ‘hesitating’."

A natural cask strength whisky matured in a Sherry Hogshead, this is the first Private Cask Bottling for MIZUNARA Hong Kong. A great balance between the sherry flavours from the cask while showcasing the Arran spirit even after 15 long years. Rich raisins, apricots combined with malty cereals and a long complex finish.

This Whisky from Linkwood Distillery, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2022 is matured in a single cask #4103 and bottled at Natural Cask Strength of 56.8% ABV. Only 251 bottles were released. Nose: Fresh green fruits, pear, crunchy apple, caramel, honey and plums Taste: Initial sweetness is balanced with fruity plum and some hot spices Finish: Spices, hint of cardamom and black tea with a warming finish (medium- long).

This Caol Ila Whisky distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2022, is matured in a single cask #4079 and bottled at a Natural Cask Strength of 54.1% ABV. Only 255 bottles were released. Nose: A burst of peat smoke, earthy notes, salty seaweed, dried meat, honey syrup at the back, roasty, and dried plum sweetness at the back. Taste: Dried fruit sweetness with salted cararmel, grassy notes, and peat smoke. Finish: A warming finish with dark chocolate.

A Single cask selected by Mizunara, HK. The artwork by Saumya Bharati, an artist from India captures the essence of BALANCE in a partnership between M&H and Mizunara; in a marriage of casks between a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel (char level 3) for 2 years and 10 months and a 1st fill ex-PX sherry hogshead (char level 3) for a further 5 months. Distilled from a single Concerto variety of unpeated barley (grown/malted in England), the cask was filled on 25/03/2018 at 64.5% ABV and matured in a natural environment at M&H’s Jaffa warehouse. Bottled at natural cask strength to retain the original flavours, we encourage adding water as per personal preference. Color: copper gold Nose: toffee, caramel and fresh pencil shavings Palate: sweet cinnamon, cloves, oak spices and black tea Finish: sour fruits and cocoa bitters at the end. This is a perfect Christmas Dram and matches very well with cakes, puddings, chocolates and the festivities!

A Limited Hong Kong Edition. This product is labeled as Kosher.

The regular Sherry Cask expression from M&H bottled at 46% was awarded the World's Best Single Malt by the 2023 World Whiskies Awards.
