This Longrow Red single malt whisky has been matured for 11 years in bourbon barrels followed by 4 years in fresh Pinot Noir barriques from acclaimed wine maker Grant Taylor's Valli vineyards in Central Otago, New Zealand. Nose: Lots of wine flavour, fresh and bit smoky, some red fruit like cherry and floral nosing. Palate: Smooth and sweet red grapes and black fruit, oak flavour, nutty, cloves Finish: Long finish, smoky and tobacco with little sweet fruits in the background.

First distilled in 1973, Longrow is the double distilled, heavily peated style Single Malt from the Springbank Distillery. This Longrow 21 years is a limited edtion, reportedly matured in 60% of sherry cask and 40% of bourbon cask, bottled in 2019 with 3600 bottles released. Nose: A sweet yet meaty dram there are aromas of glazed cherries and cured salty meats. Stewed dark plummy notes and chewy black wine gums. Maple syrup and crispy bacon with a medicinal influence from the robust peat smoke. It seems brighter on the nose with a touch of zesty orange peel. Palate: Sweet, smoky and waxy with a twist of citrus. Caramel shortbread with marzipan, lemon zest and a dusting of icing sugar. Waxy crayons and rich dried fruits with a touch of clove spiciness. Bottled in 2008/2009, this was the first annual 18 year old release of Springbank's heavily peated expression which has been matured in a combination of bourbon (20%) and sherry casks (80%). This was a limited edition of 2,100 bottles. Subsequently, the Longrow 18 became a part of their core releases in 2011.

Nose: Sweet fruits, creamy cereal, vanilla balanced with some minerality and some subtle salty undertones, leather and smoke Palate: very creamy and oily mouth feel with peat smoke present along with strawberry gum, some grapefruits and more red fruits Finish: A wonderful balance of candied ginger, some cherries, cinnamon and cloves. Some dark fruits perhaps coming from the refill sherry cask with a dry and long finish.
