Pōkeno Distillery is nestled in a warm, misty, humid valley surrounded by volcanic hills from which pure natural spring water is sourced. The Distillery uses some of the finest barley sourced from three family-owned farms in New Zealand's richly fertile South Island. This is what makes Pokeno Whisky so special in addition to a slow fermentation and distillation followed by a careful maturation process in first fill casks.
The "DISCOVERY" forms a part of the core range of their Single Malt releases and is a vatting of fully matured Whiskies in First Fill Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks which have then been laid in casks for a successful marriage of flavours.
Tasting Notes: Black forest gateau, cinnamon and ripe cherry flavours overlay dark chocolate notes and a hint of sweet citrus to deliver a rich, smooth and incredibly long finish.
Awards: Gold at Las Vegas Global Spirits Award 2023 and Silver at World Spirits Competition, San Francisco 2023.
